Abraham Jacobus Wendel was a Leiden-based chromo-lithographer, specialising in generating from a coloured drawing the lithographic plates for each of the colours, which when printed would reproduce the original drawing. Many of Wendels lithographs are now considered desirable and collectable.

For Buckler's publication: The larvć of the British butterflies and moths, Wendel's chromo-lithographs were printed by Trap, also in Leiden.
