William Buckler was an artist and entomologist in London. He was was trained at the Royal Academy of Arts, but had a hobby of rearing caterpillars. He painted many portraits, but is famous for writing and illustrating the book The larvć of the British butterflies and moths, published by the Ray Society, London (1910).

For publication, Buckler's drawings were converted to by specialists to chromo-lithographs, and these printed by specialist printers.
